Opinions on the first six Star Trek films.

With a clearly defined cast of main and secondary characters, an episodic format with minimal continuity baggage, a penchant for action sequences, and a universe full of possibilities, TOS laid the groundwork for a successful series of feature films. Traditional wisdom holds that the even-numbered films are better than the odd-numbered ones, but I am not traditionally wise. In my eyes, we have a fascinating feature-length pilot episode of a series that never came to pass, a trilogy of films that are each good for completely different reasons, a fluffy romp that honestly isn't as bad as the lowest points of TOS or TAS, and a satifying conclusion that remains my all-time favorite Trek film.
