Some hearty, thinky posts this time around, and ones I'm already looking back on as some of the most important posts I've written for this blog, at least on a personal level. I think it's safe to say that I've finally gotten the bulk of the brooding out of my system for now. I can't guarantee all sunshine and kittens from here on out, but the forecast looks pretty good.

I really tried to have something to contribute this month. I wrote a short post in December that got scheduled for January, and I poured several hours into a review that may or may not ever see the light of day at this rate—every time I go back to work on it, I scrap the whole thing and start from scratch. That's been my problem over the last few months: I've spent a lot of time writing GameCola articles that I haven't been entirely satisfied with, though I've never had a case of writer's block this bad (assuming you can call deleting everything you write "writer's block"). Even the RPG podcast I wrote and ran in December took forever to edit, which is why you won't be seeing anything about that until my January retrospective. My contributions for December were super-easy: show up to an event and talk into a microphone for an hour or three. I think my future contributions for the foreseeable future will be primarily behind-the-scenes, focusing more on editing than writing, with the occasional recording cameo. We'll see.

Between holiday travels and working on the aforementioned RPG podcast for GameCola, I didn't even start recording commentary for my next Mega Man 7 video. However, there's plenty here to watch: a four-hour livestream of random (occasionally holiday-themed) video games, and the final piece of the livestreaming Mega Man marathon from 2012—which seems like an appropriate way to have closed off Mega Man's (otherwise mournfully disappointing) 25th anniversary year.

A few new games to close out the year—'twas the season of holiday gifts and holiday discounts, you see—plus the reinstatement of a game I'd previously removed from my Backloggery due to the low likelihood of me ever bothering to organize or participate in a game with people I knew. Amazing how agreeing to join in a livestream of TF2 changes things like that. I'm also pleased to report that I've now got another adventure game under my belt that I completed without any external assistance, and better yet, it's officially my new favorite adventure game.
